An Interview snapshot

As credit crunch ballooned, one still went for a job interview.
(In the meeting room)

Employer : So let’s cut this short, why should we hire you in this position?

Candidate: Well, I have been in sales for almost 10 years, I know how to run myself very well if given a chance.

Employer : Looking at your resume, it seems that you have no experience in managing a sales team, we are looking for someone who had several years of experience in order to perform well in this scope of responsibilities.

Candidate: Experience can be gained but the most importantly this job is to generate accurate and realistic forecasts.

Employer : can you be more persuasive?

Candidate: I would first; gather the number of sales each and every month, every offices will be sending their expected sales up to a quarter in order for me to compile the figure as forecast.

Employer : Beside generating accurate and realistic forecasts, what other responsiblities you may think of?

Candidate: I think that's all.

Employer : If you had studied well on the job description, we also need someone who can develop and implement strategies to widen penetration of existing and new accounts.

Candidate: Well, it should not be included in this position.

Employer: What makes you think so?

Candidate: Well, this position is very simple, sending emails to each and every office about our sales progress, organizing yearly sales meeting & that's it. (thinking: Since this job to me appeared to be so simple, I was trying my luck actually)

Employer : What about identify business developments?

Candidate: Business Development Manager should be the one who doing it.

Employer: Since I need to rush off now, I have one last question, if entire organization has under achieve a consistent revenue performances or so-called the sales target, who will be getting the earliest dismissal?

Candidate: It should be business development managers to get the pink slip.

Employer: I will contact you if you're shortlisted, you will hear from us by next week.

Candidate: Thank you for your time (thinking: What is for the rush?)

This candidate however, was not getting any follow up call after the interview, he made several mistakes especially when he answered wrongly to the last question.

*Above lines are all just fictions and have no factual basis.*

Question: What position the candidate was applying? Someone can answer that.
